RSF Attack on Sudan Gold Market Kills Five, Injures 27
“Five citizens, including a goldsmith, were killed and 27 others injured in an attack by the RSF militia on the market” in the town of Umm Badr, the Dar Hamar Emergency Committee said in a brief statement.
The committee said RSF forces had set up a base for their combat vehicles between the Umm Badr mining market and the Umm Badr Al-Hilla area. Earlier Monday, the group also reported that RSF fighters had looted the gold market along with every shop in Umm Badr. The RSF had not issued any response to the allegations as of Monday.
The reported attack comes as Sudan's army presses forward with major gains in parts of North and West Kordofan still under RSF control. Separately on Monday, the independent Sudanese Emergency Lawyers Committee said the town of Jabra Al-Sheikh in North Kordofan is experiencing mass displacement, driven by RSF troop buildups and military operations in the surrounding area.
On Saturday, the Sudanese army seized the strategic Al-Jamama area northeast of Sodari, North Kordofan, following clashes with the RSF — a day after announcing it had taken 11 other areas in the state, marking its largest territorial advance there in recent months.
Since late July, the army has claimed large swaths of North Kordofan and secured the road connecting Bara to Omdurman, just west of the capital, Khartoum.
The Kordofan region's three states — North, West and South Kordofan — have been the site of ongoing clashes between the army and the RSF since Oct. 25, 2025.
Sudan has been engulfed in war between the army and the RSF since April 2023, a conflict that has killed tens of thousands and displaced roughly 13 million people, according to UN and international estimates.
