Floods in Central China Kill Four, Leave One Missing After Heavy Rainfall

(MENAFN) Four people are killed and one person remains missing after torrential rainfall triggers severe flooding in central China’s Hunan Province, according to local authorities on Tuesday.

The county’s emergency response and work safety committee says more than 61,000 residents are affected in Shimen County, while about 19,000 people are evacuated to safer areas.

Heavy rainfall continues across parts of central China, causing widespread flooding that disrupts transport networks, electricity supply, and forces the closure of schools and businesses, according to reports.

A state media outlet reports that several areas in Hunan face heightened risks of rain-related disasters, including landslides, flash floods, urban flooding, and waterlogging due to ongoing weather conditions.
