Vietjet Confirms Major Airbus Aircraft Order
With this new arrangement, the total orders for the A321neo now reach 280 aircraft.
This follows the airline’s earlier commitment in May for 20 A330neo widebody airplanes.
“This is not merely a commercial contract, but a symbol of trust, aspiration, and a shared vision for sustainable development and global connectivity,” stated Vietjet Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao on Airbus’ website.
Benoit de Saint-Exupery, Airbus executive vice president for sales in the commercial aircraft sector, highlighted the A321neo’s efficiency and versatility, describing it as “an ideal platform” to support Vietjet’s expansion objectives.
Beyond the aircraft order, Vietjet also placed a request in June for an extra 40 Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines to equip its 20 Airbus A330neo jets.
According to Rolls-Royce, this latest order increases Vietjet’s total engine purchases to 80, including a prior order for 40 engines made at last year’s Singapore Airshow.
