Witkoff says there is ‘master plan’ to rebuild Gaza
In an interview on Sunday, Witkoff said the reconstruction effort is estimated to cost around $50 billion, aimed at restoring Gaza’s infrastructure following the ceasefire brokered by the United States, Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye. “I think it’s going to cost a lot of money. The estimates are in the $50 billion range. It might be a little bit less, it might be a little bit more.
But that’s not a lot of money in that region. You have governments that are going to jump on in,” he explained.
Witkoff stressed that the immediate priority is to launch the rebuilding process, with funding from Middle Eastern and European countries supporting a “Board of Peace” tasked with overseeing reconstruction contracts. “We’re already talking to contractors from all of the Middle Eastern countries,” he added, emphasizing that the board will ensure both transparency and speed in implementation.
Also participating in the interview, Jared Kushner, an informal adviser to the Trump administration, said the initiative aims to establish a “transparent, good government” in Gaza.
“You can’t replace a corrupt government with another corrupt government,” he remarked.
The Gaza reconstruction plan follows the Trump administration’s 20-point peace deal, which ended active hostilities between Israel and Hamas and facilitated the release of Israeli hostages.
According to Witkoff, the “Board of Peace” will coordinate aid distribution and reconstruction activities once an international stabilization force and a local Palestinian security framework are established under the agreement.
