Invisible Border Becomes Deadly Trap for Gaza Civilians

(MENAFN) A conceptual boundary established as part of a ceasefire initiative backed by the United States has turned into a deadly zone for Palestinians residing in the Gaza Strip.

This so-called "yellow line" was introduced under a truce agreement to facilitate the pullback of Israeli military units from specific regions in Gaza.

On October 10, Israeli forces finalized the initial stage of their pullout, retreating to the “yellow line”—a symbolic rather than physical boundary intended to separate the military from designated areas within Gaza.

Despite this partial withdrawal, Israeli troops continue to maintain a presence across nearly half of the enclave.

Military units remain stationed in various regions, including the Shejaiya district, sections of Al-Tuffah and Zeitoun in Gaza City, and in the northern towns of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia. Forces are also present in Rafah to the south and along Gaza’s coastal areas.

As stated by Gaza’s Civil Defense authorities, the Israeli military reportedly fires at Palestinians who cross—or even approach—this “yellow line,” often without issuing any prior warning.

A map provided under US President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza ceasefire framework outlines the yellow line as stretching from the southern border of northern Gaza to the outer edge of Rafah in the south.

Although the Israeli military claims to be placing yellow-colored cement blocks to signify the invisible border, ongoing civilian fatalities and unclear demarcations suggest the situation on the ground remains chaotic and deadly.

The immense rubble resulting from Israeli airstrikes has made it increasingly difficult for Gaza’s residents to recognize or steer clear of this ambiguous line.

According to the Gaza Government Media Office, roughly 90% of Gaza’s essential infrastructure has been devastated since the onset of what officials describe as Tel Aviv’s genocidal campaign, which began in October 2023.
