Trump states don’t worry about WW3
In a podcast with radio host Mark Levin released Wednesday, Trump said that when he assumed office earlier this year, the situation was “raging” and appeared to be “heading to World War III.” Now, however, he claimed, “you’re not going to have that anymore,” while acknowledging that the eventual resolution of the conflict is still uncertain.
Trump has repeatedly blamed former President Joe Biden for bringing relations with Moscow to their lowest point and fueling the conflict by pushing Ukraine’s NATO membership despite Russia’s objections.
Since returning to office, Trump has reopened direct communication with Moscow and held his first in-person meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska last week. Days later, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and several European leaders joined him in Washington for additional talks.
Trump called his discussions with Putin “very productive,” saying they had improved the chances of reaching a settlement. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt echoed that sentiment, noting there is now “light at the end of the tunnel” toward a lasting peace, though the process will take time.
Moscow has long argued that the Ukraine war is a Western proxy conflict, accusing NATO of escalating tensions and warning that Western troop deployments could risk triggering a world war. Nonetheless, Russian officials, including Putin, have welcomed Trump’s efforts, describing his approach as a “sincere” push for peace.
