Israel threatens several Iranian political, army, security officials
Ali Larijani disclosed the information during a televised interview on state media.
He explained that Israel’s intention was not limited to striking strategic facilities. Instead, the objective extended to undermining Iran’s leadership in an effort to destabilize the country's political system. “The enemy calculated that it could quickly dismantle the state structure by targeting senior Iranian officials during a leadership meeting. The next step was to threaten the leader of the Islamic revolution directly.”
Larijani added that both Israel and the United States had misjudged the Iranian public’s response, expecting citizens to turn against their government during the escalation. That belief, he noted, was proven wrong. “The strong unity and resistance of the people forced Israel to reconsider its goals.”
He mentioned that by June 21, it had become evident that Israel would not succeed in its aims, leading to intervention by neutral mediators attempting to deescalate the situation.
Larijani also revealed that in addition to other senior figures receiving threats, he was personally targeted. “I also received a message saying I had 12 hours to leave Tehran. Otherwise, they said I would share the same fate as the late commander Gholam Ali Rashid and Chief of General Staff Mohammad Bagheri, but I gave them a response befitting someone like (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu.”
