The verbal exchange comes after a 12-day conflict starting June 13, when Israel targeted Iranian nuclear and military sites, prompting Iranian retaliation. The US joined the attacks on June 22 with heavy bombers targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. Although Trump declared the sites “completely obliterated,” media reports have challenged that claim. Despite a ceasefire, Iran refuses to quickly resume talks, with the main obstacle being the US demand that Iran halt uranium enrichment—a demand Tehran rejects, insisting its nuclear program is peaceful and non-military.
