AIIB’s eleventh yearly meeting is to take place in Qatar

(MENAFN) The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has announced that its 11th annual board of governors meeting will be held in Doha, Qatar, in September 2026, according to recent reports.

The announcement was made during the AIIB's 10th annual meeting, which took place in Beijing from June 24 to 26. A ceremonial event on Thursday marked the official transfer of host duties from China to Qatar.

Qatar’s Minister of Finance, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, who also serves as the AIIB governor for Qatar, will preside over the 2026 gathering.

AIIB President Jin Liqun, who also chairs the bank’s board of directors, stated that bringing the annual meeting to Qatar would help foster deeper interregional cooperation focused on sustainable infrastructure, innovation, and connectivity.

Established in 2016, the AIIB is a multilateral development bank with a mission to fund "infrastructure for tomorrow," prioritizing sustainability. The institution currently has 110 approved member countries.
