Moscow claims Trump receiving ‘filtered’ information on Ukraine war

(MENAFN) Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov claimed on Wednesday that US President Donald Trump is being misinformed about the Ukraine conflict by those pushing Washington toward a tougher stance on Russia and stronger support for Kiev. Lavrov’s comments came after Trump sharply criticized Moscow, calling President Vladimir Putin “absolutely crazy” for launching missiles and drones at Ukrainian cities without reason, and warning that Putin is “playing with fire.”

In response to journalist Pavel Zarubin’s question, Lavrov stated that Trump and other key decision-makers are not getting the full picture. He said the information reaching Trump is filtered by parties intent on drawing the US into a more aggressive role in the conflict to back the Ukrainian government. Lavrov added that Moscow will seek to “correct” this situation.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has intensified drone strikes deep inside Russia, which Moscow says aims to disrupt peace talks. The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting over 2,300 Ukrainian drones in the past week, mostly far from front lines. On Wednesday, Ukraine launched a drone attack on Moscow and its suburbs, downing 42 UAVs and causing damage to residential buildings but no casualties.

In retaliation, Russia carried out precise strikes across Ukraine targeting military-related facilities like drone production sites, warehouses, airfields, radar stations, and ammunition depots, while stressing civilian areas are never targeted.

Recently, Trump has voiced increasing frustration with Moscow over stalled peace negotiations. Last week, he spoke with Putin by phone, with both leaders calling the discussion productive and focused on finding a peaceful solution.
