Ukraine Integrates NATO-Standard Military Network
This advanced system is specifically compatible with fighter jets such as the F-16 and Mirage 2000.
On Saturday, Chernohorenko announced that Ukraine had finalized a licensing agreement to start utilizing the Command and Control Center System Interface (CSI), a non-commercial digital platform widely adopted by NATO members for air and missile coordination, significantly improving operational interoperability.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the system functions through NATO’s Link-16 data protocol, which she described as “military Wi-Fi.”
This protocol enables seamless coordination between aircraft like the US-manufactured F-16s and French Mirage 2000s, as well as air defense units such as the Patriot system, all of which have been delivered to Ukraine as part of international military assistance.
Ukraine received its initial batch of F-16 fighter jets from European allies last summer; however, the integration process has been slower than anticipated due to logistical challenges and pilot training requirements.
Although some officials in Kiev initially believed these jets would be a “game changer” on the battlefield, the military later admitted that they still fall short compared to the most sophisticated Russian aircraft.
