Laos, Russia Formalize Accord to Deepen Legal Ties
(MENAFN) The top prosecutorial authorities of Laos and Russia have formalized a new bilateral initiative to deepen legal ties and strengthen institutional cooperation throughout 2025 and 2026.
According to a newspaper, the official agreement was signed on Wednesday and outlines a series of collaborative efforts aimed at advancing legal reform, enhancing prosecutorial functions, and fostering mutual understanding between the two countries.
Under the terms of the deal, the Office of the Supreme People's Prosecutor of Laos and Russia's Prosecutor General's Office have committed to meeting at least once per year. These annual sessions will be accompanied by a steady exchange of professional and legal materials to reinforce judicial capacity and uphold the rule of law in both nations.
The agreement also emphasizes modernizing legal practices by incorporating digital tools and artificial intelligence. Joint meetings will explore how such technologies can improve prosecutorial effectiveness.
Child protection is another key focus. The two countries plan to organize expert-level discussions aimed at developing more robust responses to crimes involving minors.
In addition, both parties will conduct joint training sessions annually and maintain the regular sharing of legal, scientific, and technical resources to strengthen their collaborative prosecutorial efforts.
