Joint Effort Boosts Islamic Fund for Refugees

(MENAFN) The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group has joined forces with Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), the American branch of the global humanitarian organization Islamic Relief, to strengthen the Global Islamic Fund for Refugees (GIFR).

This partnership was officially established during the IsDB's annual gathering held in Algiers, the capital city of Algeria.

During the event on Wednesday, a formal agreement was signed by Adil Alsharif, Director General of the IsDB’s Islamic Solidarity Fund for Development (ISFD), alongside Ahmed Shehata, Chief Executive Officer of IRUSA.

The collaboration aims to deliver long-term assistance and empowerment to refugee communities and people displaced by conflict or crisis across the globe.

The agreement is anticipated to amplify the influence and reach of the GIFR.

This distinct fund operates under Islamic financial principles and seeks to provide enduring monetary assistance to refugees and internally displaced populations, especially within countries that are part of the IsDB.

A notable example of the fund’s mission is its initial project titled the “Regional Emergency Response Initiative for Sudanese Refugees.”

This initiative underscores the fund's dedication to offering targeted and effective solutions during humanitarian emergencies.

Through IRUSA’s participation, the initiative is expected to receive a significant financial boost, enhancing its ability to deliver essential services such as education, clean water, hygiene facilities, housing, and other life-sustaining support for individuals impacted by forced migration.
