Kremlin publishes update on arrangements for possible Ukraine discussions
Putin offered to restart direct talks with Kiev to reach a lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict, one that addresses its core issues. His proposal received support from former U.S. President Donald Trump. In response, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signaled willingness to negotiate but maintained his demand for a 30-day ceasefire as a precondition—something Russia has consistently rejected.
When asked whether the talks would definitely happen, Peskov stated that preparations on the Russian side are ongoing but declined to provide additional details. He also withheld the names of those expected to represent Russia, saying the delegation would be announced at a time President Putin sees fit.
Peskov dismissed any role for Western European countries in the negotiations, arguing they lack neutrality. “Europe is clearly aligned with Ukraine and cannot be seen as impartial,” he stated, accusing European nations of promoting a pro-war stance that contrasts sharply with the approaches of Moscow and Washington.
