Russia shields India
Speaking in front of the S-400 platform, Modi emphasized the strategic advantage the system has given India, stating: “A strong security shield has become the identity of India.” He highlighted that India now possesses military capabilities beyond the reach of its adversaries, notably Pakistan.
The defense system was put to the test during India’s “Sindoor” counterterrorism operation, when Pakistan retaliated with drone and missile attacks on Indian military targets. India responded by deploying the S-400s in Punjab and Rajasthan—two key border regions. Reports indicate that the system successfully intercepted incoming threats before they breached Indian airspace. Debris discovered on Pakistani soil suggests that India may have used the advanced 40N6E missiles, which have a range of up to 370 kilometers.
Military expert Mikhail Khodaryonok noted that combat is the ultimate test for any weapon, and the S-400 has proven its value. He pointed to its strong track record not only in India’s recent operations but also in Russia’s own military campaigns, where the system has intercepted a variety of threats including cruise missiles, drones, and ballistic projectiles.
