Although Sobyanin did not specify the exact sites where the UAVs were neutralized during the afternoon, Evgeniya Khrustaleva, head of the Domodedovo district in southern Moscow Region, confirmed that local air defense systems had been deployed.
Russian news outlets noted that just before Sobyanin's statement, both Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports in Moscow temporarily restricted aircraft departures and arrivals.
Similar limitations were reportedly enforced at Sheremetyevo Airport as well.
Individuals residing in the Moscow Region posted video clips online, asserting that they captured Ukrainian drones flying toward the city shortly before being intercepted.
One of the videos allegedly displays a UAV being detonated mid-air.
According to local authority Ruslan Zagolovatsky, two drones were downed in the Domodedovo district, and a third was destroyed over the Orekhovo-Zuevo district in eastern Moscow Region.
He emphasized that there were no injuries or property losses resulting from the incidents.
