Israel Reveals Plans to Broaden Ground Offensive in Gaza
"We will expand our operation, establish operational control over more territory, and clear and dismantle the terrorist infrastructure -- until Hamas is decisively defeated," stated Israel’s military chief Eyal Zamir in a video message from Gaza on the fourth day of Operation Gideon's Chariots, described as Israel's most extensive ground operation in the enclave in recent months.
Zamir noted that while Hamas had been "severely weakened," it had not yet been defeated.
According to Gaza’s health authorities, at least 87 people were killed on Tuesday, raising the overall death toll from Israel’s 19-month campaign to 53,573.
The Israeli military reported conducting airstrikes on over 100 targets in the past 24 hours. In the north, these included militant fighters, a weapons depot, a facility used by Islamic Jihad, and underground installations. In southern Gaza, the strikes targeted militants, military sites, and observation posts.
In parallel, 93 United Nations aid trucks entered Gaza on Tuesday through the Kerem Shalom crossing, delivering essential supplies such as flour, baby formula, medical gear, and pharmaceuticals, according to COGAT, the Israeli Defense Ministry agency managing civilian issues in the Palestinian territories.
However, none of the aid shipments reached their destinations due to ongoing logistical and security issues, as reported by an Israeli newspaper.
Five trucks had entered Gaza on Monday—the first delivery following an 11-week Israeli blockade on food, medicine, and fuel. Israel agreed to allow limited aid shipments amid rising international pressure, while UN officials continue to warn of worsening famine conditions.
