School Bus Bombing in Pakistan Kills Five, Injures Several

(MENAFN) Five people, among them three students, lost their lives and several others were wounded when militants targeted a school bus in Pakistan’s Khuzdar district, located in the southwestern province of Balochistan, on Wednesday, according to the country’s military.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media arm of the Pakistani armed forces, issued a statement denouncing the attack on "the innocent school-going children's bus," and pledged to track down the "planners, abettors and executors" involved in the act, ensuring they face justice.

Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti told a news outlet that the assault was carried out by a suicide bomber who rammed an explosives-filled vehicle into the bus in the district’s zero point area, killing at least five individuals and injuring around 40 others, including both students and school staff.

Witnesses speaking to the news outlet reported that the blast completely destroyed the bus due to its intensity.

Emergency responders and security personnel quickly arrived at the scene, transporting the wounded to nearby medical facilities. Authorities sealed off the area and have initiated a formal investigation.

Reacting to the incident, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued a forceful condemnation of the attack.

"No efforts will be spared to thwart the nefarious intentions of terrorists to disrupt the peace of Balochistan," the prime minister said.

As of now, no group has taken responsibility for the bombing.
