Kremlin voices remarks on ceasefire plans following Ukrainian drone attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, however, rejected the ceasefire offer, calling it a Russian manipulation. In response, Ukraine has intensified its drone strikes on Russian territories, with Russian diplomat Rodion Miroshnik reporting record civilian casualties—15 deaths and 142 injuries—due to these attacks over the past week.
Despite Ukraine’s actions, Peskov assured that Russia remains committed to the ceasefire initiative, stressing that it is still in effect. He criticized Ukraine’s continued drone attacks, accusing Kiev of terrorist tactics. Peskov also assured that Russian forces are taking all necessary measures to ensure a safe and peaceful atmosphere for Victory Day celebrations.
Russian MP Andrey Kolesnik warned of a potential “asymmetrical” response to the drone strikes, promising that Russia would retaliate strongly. However, Peskov declined to comment further on specific retaliation plans, emphasizing that Russia's position on the ceasefire and all necessary military instructions have already been made clear.
