Center-Right Leads Portugal's Parliamentary Elections, Short of Majority

Chega, which began in 2019 and was initially dismissed as a fringe party due to its extreme views, has experienced a remarkable surge into mainstream Portuguese politics. The party's swift transformation, from holding a single parliamentary seat to securing 58 within six years, demonstrates its effectiveness in tapping into widespread public dissatisfaction with established political parties.
