Lee Jae-myung Leads Polls in S. Korea’s Upcoming Third Election

(MENAFN) A recent survey indicates Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate, holds a significant lead in the upcoming June 3rd election. According to the Flower Research poll released Monday, Lee garnered 52.1% support, surpassing Kim Moon-soo of the People Power Party, who received 29.5%.

Lee, a former human rights lawyer, is currently positioned as the frontrunner in the election, which was prompted by the removal of former President Yoon Suk-yeol last December. This removal stemmed from Yoon's controversial implementation of martial law. Notably, Lee narrowly lost the 2022 presidential election to Yoon by a mere 0.73 percentage points.

The Democratic Party also enjoys a higher approval rating, with 50.3% support compared to the People Power Party's 32.0%. The survey, conducted between Friday and Saturday, polled 2,007 voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
