Kiev fires more than 100 drones into Russian border zone
Despite the interceptions, the attack in Bryansk caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure and led to at least one fatality. Bryansk Governor Aleksandr Bogomaz reported that the assault killed a civilian and injured a woman, who was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
This attack follows a smaller drone strike on Bryansk the previous week, where 87 UAVs were downed by Russian forces, with no casualties reported. The recent attack occurred shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a 30-hour ceasefire over Easter, during which Russian forces were ordered to only retaliate against Ukrainian attacks.
Though the intensity of Ukrainian operations decreased during this period, Russia still reported around 4,900 ceasefire violations. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky accused Moscow of committing thousands of violations. Over the past week, Russian forces resumed long-range strikes against Ukrainian military and industrial targets, resulting in casualties and damage. Ukrainian officials claim 12 deaths and more than 100 injuries from the strikes, while Moscow maintains that it targets only military installations.
