Turkey’s Inflation Drops to 37.86 Percent in April
TurkStat's figures indicated that the most significant price increases over the past year were in the education sector at 79.2%, followed by housing with a 74.07% rise, and health, which saw a 41.99% surge. In contrast, the smallest annual price hikes were observed in clothing and footwear (16.92%), communications (21.31%), and transport (22.76%).
The institute highlighted the substantial weight of three key expenditure categories in the overall inflation calculation. Food and non-alcoholic beverages experienced a 36.09% price increase, while transportation costs rose by 22.76%, and housing saw a significant jump of 74.07%. TurkStat further elaborated, stating, "The contributions of these main groups to the annual change were 9.21% for food and non-alcoholic beverages, 3.84% for transportation and 9.98% for housing."
Despite the slight dip in the annual rate, the monthly inflation rate saw an increase, climbing to 3% in April from 2.46% in the preceding month of March.
