U.S. Officials Skip Ukraine Discussions in London
(MENAFN) U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio will no longer be present at the upcoming discussions concerning Ukraine, which are set to take place in London on Wednesday.
Although he was initially expected to participate, the State Department has officially announced his absence.
Additionally, Leader Donald Trump’s representative, Steve Witkoff, has also opted out of attending the session. As reported by the media, Witkoff is anticipated to travel to Moscow instead.
State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce explained that Rubio’s decision to forgo the London event stems from overlapping commitments in his itinerary.
She emphasized that this development should not be seen as a reflection of any alteration in the United States' dedication to supporting peace efforts.
“Secretary Rubio is a busy man… And so when there’s certain plans, they’re conditional. And in this particular instance, while the meetings in London are still occurring, he will not be attending. But that is not a statement regarding the meetings; it’s a statement about logistical issues in his schedule,” Bruce conveyed to reporters on Tuesday.
