Germany Collaborates with Major Industries to Bolster NATO Readiness
Some Eastern NATO allies—most notably the Baltic countries—have repeatedly claimed that Moscow is gearing up for an incursion, an assertion that Russian authorities have persistently rejected.
Based on reports, the Bundeswehr is engaging in discreet conversations with corporations such as Deutsche Bahn, Lufthansa, and Rheinmetall.
These talks aim to ensure their collaboration in moving soldiers, weaponry, and necessary resources in the event of a crisis.
The German Defense Ministry has specifically asked Deutsche Bahn to assess its ability to facilitate the rail-based transportation of military units during emergencies.
At the same time, Lufthansa is being looked at for potential involvement in foundational training for combat pilots through its aviation academy.
Rheinmetall, which is already engaged in military support through a recent EURO260 million (USD300 million) agreement, is also negotiating to broaden its participation.
This initiative is aligned with Germany’s strategic position as NATO’s primary logistical center, the report highlights.
Under the alliance’s updated defense protocol, Berlin has pledged to ready and deploy tens of thousands of troops, as well as hundreds of planes and naval vessels, within a 30-day window should a conflict emerge.
