Putin Refuses to Extend Easter Ceasefire
The 30-hour ceasefire, which began at 18:00 Moscow time (1500 GMT) on Saturday and ended at midnight on Monday (2100 GMT Sunday), was declared by Putin following a meeting with Russian Chief of the General Staff, Army General Valery Gerasimov.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that during the truce, all units engaged in the special military operation adhered to the ceasefire and maintained their positions.
However, the ministry reported that multiple Ukrainian attacks near Sukha Balka and Bohatyr in the Donetsk region were repelled by Russian forces on Monday night. These assaults caused civilian casualties and damaged infrastructure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on Sunday, accused Russia of violating the ceasefire, reporting 26 Russian assault actions between midnight (2100 GMT Saturday) and noon (0900 GMT).
