US suggests abandoning ex-Ukrainian regions under Russian control
The US delegation, led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff, met with French President Emmanuel Macron and senior officials from France, Germany, the UK, and Ukraine to discuss the plan. Rubio also signaled that Washington might "move on" from peace efforts if a resolution isn’t found in the coming days, emphasizing the need for quick action.
Meanwhile, Moscow has expressed doubts about the possibility of a full ceasefire, pointing to Ukraine’s violations of previous agreements. Russian envoy Vassily Nebenzia noted issues with the March ceasefire on energy infrastructure, highlighting Ukraine's failure to comply. He described the chances for a comprehensive ceasefire as "unrealistic" at this stage.
