Israeli Ministers Call for West Bank Annexation
(MENAFN) Four senior officials from Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right Israeli government publicly advocated for the annexation of the occupied West Bank on Sunday.
This appeal was voiced during the inauguration of a new district in the unauthorized "Har Brakha" settlement, located near Nablus in the northern part of the territory, as reported by an Israeli public broadcaster.
The officials who promoted this stance included Defense Minister Israel Katz, Settlements and National Missions Minister Orit Strock, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, and Minister for the Negev, Galilee and National Resilience Yitzhak Wasserlauf.
Their participation at the event was accompanied by various settler leaders, all pushing for Israel to enforce its sovereignty over the area and broaden settlement developments across the region, based on the media’s report.
During the ceremony, Katz described the settlement as “the defense front line of Israel” and affirmed the continuation of the military operations in the West Bank by the Israeli army, the broadcaster noted.
The global community, including the United Nations, classifies these settlements as unlawful under international legislation.
The UN has consistently cautioned that further expansion of settlements undermines the feasibility of a two-state solution—an approach widely regarded as central to ending the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian dispute.
