Russia’s human rights director claims AI is pro-Western
Fadeyev argued that the content generated by foreign AI platforms largely reflects Western viewpoints and filters out non-Western ones, which, he said, violates Russia's constitutional right to free access to information. He pointed out that AI now has a stronger influence than traditional US-funded media outlets, such as Voice of America, which President Trump had previously defunded. Fadeyev warned that the West now wields AI as a significant ideological weapon.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized the importance of developing domestic AI systems to enhance national security and governance, stressing that Western AI should not dominate the Russian market.
