Philippine Airlines flight diverts to Japan for emergency landing

(MENAFN) A Philippine Airlines flight on its way to the United States made an emergency landing in Japan on Thursday after smoke was detected on board.

The aircraft, which took off on Wednesday, was redirected to Haneda Airport following reports of smoke coming from one of its two air conditioning units, according to a statement from the airline reported by local news outlet.

The Boeing 777, with 355 passengers on board, landed safely without any reported incidents.

Passengers reported that smoke began to fill the cabin prior to arrival at the Tokyo airport, prompting an evacuation of the aircraft.
