France initiates fresh probe associated to Le Pen trial
The Paris Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the threats, which were serious enough to prompt a special police unit to handle the case. This marks the second investigation linked to the trial, following an earlier probe into death threats posted on a far-right website. Le Pen has denied any wrongdoing and plans to appeal the conviction, claiming it was politically motivated. The Paris Court of Appeal is expected to rule on her case by 2026, which could affect her eligibility to run in the 2027 presidential election.
